It all starts with relationship. I often hear the phrase, and I use it regularly myself ‘Christianity isn’t a religion, it’s a relationship’
The big answer to the big question of ‘why are we here?’ and ‘what is the meaning of life?’ is found in a relationship. The relationship between us and God.
In our evangelism, this is the aim. We are seeking to bring people into relationship with God, through Jesus.
However, our journey of leading others to Christ starts and must flow out of our own relationship with God. We cannot give away what we have not got ourselves. Jesus said ‘freely you have received, freely give’ (Matt 10:8)- so to give something away, we have to have received something first.
Our lives can get so easily filled up in the day to day with so many things, many of them important: work, marriage, looking after the kids etc. However, we need to make our daily time alone with Jesus a priority.
Spending time with God is key if we are to live the lives that God intended for us - we can’t talk to others about their need of being in relationship with God if our own relationship with Him is not intact.
So, I want to encourage you, in the business of the day, make sure to find time to spend alone with God.
Find the time that suits you best: morning, afternoon, or evening. Take time each day to read His word, share your heart with Him, and stop and listen to what He has to say to you!
